"Labor must have a seat at the table, not this right to work for less," Biden said to a standing ovation inside Cobo's Riverview ballroom.
The vice president on Saturday night also mentioned the Senate's defeat of expanded background checks for gun buyers.
Biden accused Republicans of being controlled by the gun lobby and said Senate Democrats who voted against the bill did so because its chances of passing in the Republican-controlled House are slim.
