This has happened before, and Detroiters don't take kindly to it: A public official somewhere in the country takes a shot at Detroit to make their city look better.

This time it was Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian.

During his State of the City speech Thursday, he talked about Atlantic City losing four of its 12 casinos last year and the elimination of 8,000 jobs and the loss of half its gambling revenue in the last eight years.

"At least we are not Detroit."

Needless to say, some Detroiters take exception.

"I would love for the mayor of Atlantic City to come to Detroit,"Jeanette Pierce, executive director of the Detroit Experience Factory, which works to promote the city, told the Associated Press. "We'll show him some of the things we've been working on. Maybe Atlantic City could learn from some of the solutions that we've been coming up with to solve our problems."

"We should probably try to educate the mayor of Atlantic City as to what is truly going on in the city of Detroit," said Bill Bohde, senior vice president of sales and marketing with the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau, according to AP.
