The graffiti above surfaced in the wake of protests across the country over civilian deaths at the hands of police.
Police and the director of a Detroit youth center say it's hurtful, Fox 2 reports.
The image was on the Youthville Building at the Plymouth Educational Center on Woodward in Detroit, located kitty-corner to the Detroit Police Department Third Precinct.
"I don't believe looking at the painting that God would give an angel a gun to shoot a police officer," Steve Dolunt, assistant Detroit police chief, tells Fox 2. "I think God gives angels to police officers to try to protect them."
Fox 2 said it's unclear when exactly the image was painted, but it likely happened after the ambush slaying of two New York cops.
Roger Simmons, building facilities director, told Fox 2 that the school became aware of the painting on Tuesday and had it covered immediately.
Detroit Police are looking into who painted the scene.
