After Recall in November, Troy Gets Permanent Mayor

The City of Troy has lived with uncertainty since its mayor Janice Daniels was recalled in November.

On Tuesday, the voters opted to elect as mayor the interim mayor Dane Slater.

"We're going to move forward," Slater said Tuesday night to supporters at Joe Kool's restaurant on Big Beaver Road, according to the Detroit News. "This is the best city in Michigan. I am so proud to be a part of this and I look forward to moving forward."

Ex-Mayor Daniels got into trouble with her anti-gay remarks and her opposition to a transit center.
