At age 78, it's reasonable to speculate as to whether Sen. Carl Levin will run for a seventh term in 2014.
Leonard Fleming of The Detroit News writes if Levin doesn't run, that will open up a flood gate of candidates on both sides of the political aisle.
"The issue is whether or not I'm going to run again and my wife's going to have a lot to say about that. We'll sit and spend some time in the early months of next year," he told the News in a recent interview.
The News writes that prospects could include Atty. Gen. Bill Schuette, who lost to Levin in 1990, and Congressman Gary Peters.
Other Republicans could include U.S. Reps. Candice Miller of Harrison Township and Mike Rogers of Brighton.
Other Dems could include Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero, freshman U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee of Flint and businesswoman Denise Ilitch.
